JAMAICA

Jamaica STAY:

(a header note, if you don't know this by now, Jamaica is our most favorite of trips, so we have a lot to say)

Jake’s Hotel, a total escape from it all. You can stay at Jakes your entire trip and still feel a well rounded cultural experience. The rustic vibe 100 percent authentic, and each room is different so you can stay there a 100 times (or however many numbers of rooms they have) and have a bit of a different experience. Good for the budget, good for the splurge.

Some of our favorite rooms to stay in include Cowrie 2 a mediterranean airy room and Seahorse Up, which has a private large balcony and outdoor daybed and hammock.

One thousand percent, go to DriftWood Spa where you can findXanax inspired massages and other delicious services as well as daily yoga sessions on a sundeck that overlooks the Caribbean Ocean, doesn’t get more zen that that.

Pina Coladas at Dougie’s bar is a must, especially during sunset.

Take a complimentary kayak out for the day and visit Calabash bay for a fuller beach experience. A little beware, we wiped out twice on the kayak and you probably will too.

There isn't much need to venture elsewhere for food as Jake’s has fresh farm to table onsite breakfast, lunch, dinner, and everything in between but we highly suggest you try a few of the local spots.

Pelican Villa, an actual piece of heaven for a traveling bunch. There isn’t one element of this house that could disappoint you, even the shower shelving unit has been designed with thought, taste, and perfection. The villa sits high up on a cliff overlooking the coast, but also has access to a beautiful very private beach. The house comes with a full lovely staff who can create the menu of your dreams.

Jamaica EAT:

Breakfast at Waikiki Guest House, just down the road from Jakes. This no frills spot is literally situated on the water. The actual dining experience may not look like a whole lot, but who cares when your view is the ocean and your people watching is local fisherman loading in and out their boats. Not to mention, the pancakes, eggs, and coffee- all top notch and extremely kind on the wallet.

Lunch at Jack Sprat, next door to Jakes docked on a little swimming beach. Delicious pizzas, traditional Jamaican food & seafood, and homemade ice cream for desert.

Dinner at Little Ochie, a bit of a drive but a full on experience with what people say is the best seafood dining one could come by.

Other spots to taste:

Lobster Pot, Smurfs, Eggys

Jamaica PLAY:

Book a day on Captain Dennis‘s boat. You can take a beautiful boat ride to a private beach where you will have a fresh lobster picnic cooked up on the spot for you, clear waters to snorkel in uninterrupted, and you can down run punch while sunbathing on the white sand. You can also visit Pelican Bar after you’ve tired yourself out from all that relaxing. This bar is literally a shack in the middle of the blue clear ocean. Grab a Red Stripe and have your name carved into the wood for a keepsake until next time. One last thing you may want to partake in is a boat trip to Black River, this can be done in a long adventurous day or can be a whole thing on it’s own. You can take this water safari all while Dennis will provide you will a full report of bird sightings, alligator spottings, and a stop for a quick beer in a very unassuming bar off the side of the river, rope swing and all.

You won’t want to do all that much shopping while your in Treasure Beach but stopping at Callalloo Butik is worth putting a pause on your rum punch drinking. The ex-pat French owner stocks the store with local designs ranging from clothing to essential oils. The exterior of the store is an Instagram worthy moment on its own.

Learn Dominos with one of the locals, its a ton of fun, part of the Jamaican culture, and well, who doesn’t love a good game?

YS Falls is a unbelievable well kept park site where you can rope swing into waterfalls, take a dip into one of their many natural pools, and zipline. On the drive there stop for Coconut Jellies & Pepper Shrimp.

Shirley’s Steambath & Massage, once you’ve exhausted all the spa services at Driftwood (is that actually possible? I don’t think so) check out Shirley’s Steambath, Shirley is a wonder-woman with hands of a God.

Other Things to do: Rent Scooters, Rent Bikes, Visit Charmaine’s grocery for the Coldest Red Stripe in town, check out Lover’s Leap, grab a bite to eat at Juicy Patty.

We always make sure to do all of the above each visit to Jamaica because there's really no place like Treasure Beach, but lets move on if your headed to Negril...

You will need to make this your home base: The Rock House
